Online learning has become one of the most popular ways of gaining access to education due to school closures and limitations to social distancing. According to Method School, five million students under the age of eighteen have taken at least one class online and more than 300,000 students are enrolled in online school full time. Depending on the student, the challenges with online learning can vary. For example, students with disabilities are having a more difficult time with accessing their education, engaging in classroom discussion and completing their assignments compared to regular education students. This research supports the difficulties that my brother John is experiencing during remote learning. Due to these difficulties, I am working with John to develop strategies to make his online learning more successful and engaging. Also during this time we have been working on life skills such as making his bed and washing clothes.
